When I am going through fire, the Lord is there with me.
A Testimony
I just recalled how my life was in school then.
I was brought up in rural areas and so I was use to life there.
In 1998 when I did my final examinations in primary school, I was with high sprits to go into high school.
But then I remember mum telling me, "Justus, high schools nowadays are very expensive. We cannot afford to put you in high school"
That startled me. It amazed me. I knew she was telling the truth. My dad used to work in Nakuru and I was in Kisii. Dad's income was low; it only supported the family going on and so he could not afford extra for school.
One day, we were in the fields weeding maize with mum and my second brother, Dennis.
Then something came into my mind. I said, "mum, you know what, whether there's money or not, my God is able and I will to Nakuru in high school".
Guess what, mum laughed. Then I added, "This is my last time to work here".
She even laughed more because she knew the following we could work in the fields even harder....
We went home after work and to my amazement found our neighbor who had just came from Nakuru that same day.
After preparing lunch and eating, the news broke out!
Dad had just sent him for me to go with him in Nakuru.
It was, believe it or you are just dreaming....!
And so I left and with great desire I joined form one. I then knew we could create things through our tongues....
Well.....As I had told you earlier, I left home with our neighbor to Nakuru Town where my dad was working. By God's grace, he'd managed to gather some few funds, which he got from good friends and thus this enabled me, join form one in Kenyatta Secondary School in 1999.
Thus by faith I was admitted and life went on.
Ever since every time I go home to visit my parents, always my mum takes me along with her to the fields. She reminds me how I had made a bold statement that day, "This is my last day to be here".That really motivated her and she has learnt to be positive .
However, while in form two, the second year, things changed completely.
My dad resigned his job and went home in Kisii. He decided to do farming.
That's when I learnt how to wait upon the Lord. He could send me some money for food and also school fees. But this was never enough for both.
Most of the times I spent more time in the public libraries than in school. This was because I was sent away from school due to school fees. In fact there is a term I that I never attended school. But God was always faithful. I remember most of the times when in school. We ate lunch in school. Indeed, I could ask the cook to at least give me a big share than the usual because I knew I had no food at home that evening. Breakfast was just a rich man's luxury or so I thought. I leant this, TRUST GOD.
Yes this is what I did. I could each day pray and ask the Lord to be my provider. And the Lord's word in Psalms 125 was made manifest. They that wait upon the Lord are like Mount Zion which can never be moved or shaken but abides forever! This kept me moving and the Lord could send people who came to my aid.
I Recall as I was coming from school. By God's miracle I found a two hundred note which is equivalent to 3 us dollars. It was a miracle because nobody noticed it. Everyone was just pushing it and treading it on the ground .I then just bent down and picked it up. This was good money during that time.I could budget food for one five days and this kept me moving.
Well life continued and God saw me through in all things. But I cannot forget when I was on my final Year in school. I was to pay examination fee and also the arrears, which I had not paid previously.
The headteacher sent me home. I was so frustrated that I thought it was over with me to live in Nakuru.
I sent the message home.I was later sent the fare back home and leave Nakuru for good. This never occurred in my mind. I then recalled again telling mum, I will complete my education in Nakuru, I know God is able to finish that which He started. That gave me the courage and I turned down the request to go back home.
I knew I had started buidling a house and I could not leave it on the way. I had counted the cost as far as I could figure out by then.
God did work a miracle. On Sunday morning I went in the church and after the service I spoke with my pastor here in Nakuru concerning my situation.
He was moved by this and decided to give me an apartment in the church to live till I completed school. More so he paid for my arrears and the examination fee. Others I received a bursary fund from the school
And that was it!!It was done! I praised God for this and this teaches me one thing, When I am going through fire, the Lord is there with me. Glory be to God who saw me through all this.
I am whom I am because of who He is. I thank God that I am His.
There were so many set backs that the Lord saw me through but I will leave here for now.
